Overall I think the outcomes where very successful but I became very constricted to the space so making a larger scale model I felt was the way forward and to start taking these narratives into Photoshop and printing them off in colour to see the effect it had as a set would be interesting. But as a starting point I feel like I'm on the right track.

3D Set Images
After creating a plan of my ideas I started looking at ways to create my set, kind of involved steeling a couple of cardboard box's but I go around to making example of what my sets might look like. These are some of the Black & White example I have made.

Thomas Allen
Thomas Allen is an paper sculpture that I have only come across though my work on this project, when I started being interested in building a set to display my characters I was asked to research him, and from my research he has become a very important influence in my work he looks at depth and the quality of layers and scale to add shadow and depth to this work. The background lighting is also very effective creating shadows and depth of field which is something that I would like to explore because the subject matter of my narratives are very sinister but my narrative style is very playful so to add more darkness and shadow might create more depth and tell the story of my set with more depth and horror a lot like the Nursery Rhymes themselves.

Into The Woods
Into The Woods: The brothers Grimm hit Broadway with epic fairy tale where worlds collide. James Lapine & Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and brings them together for a timeless yet relevant piece of rare modern classic performance.
Fairy tales is the main focus point to my set design ideas and having mini crit's though the week allows me to generate more influence for my project and this was one of them. Into the woods is a similar method to my set design ideas but I am combining the themes of the Nursery Rhymes other than the stories in the books, I want to translate the horror of the Rhymes not the fairy tale part of the story. But from this influence it has become the one of the key elements of my Journal this year and allows me to become more inspired by this theatrical performance in my journal and this is also translating onto my project work also which is very exciting.
Guru Meeting
The Guru Meeting was so helpful to me and it was the perfect time to started getting information about the outside world after we graduate because coming into the third year that's all I could think about, so having this talk with my Guru was really helpful to me.
Matt Bray is my Guru for the year, he is their to give me advice on my portfolio and any questions that I need to ask him in relation to his work and also the opportunity we have to go to London.
Talking to Matt about my work was really interesting even though we haven't got the same style of working it always interesting to hear about someone else's work. I shown me some of this work on his IPAD which was different but with the knew technology we have its like a mini portfolio but without carrying a massive A1 folder with me to see clients. He also advised me that if I am going to send out business cards to clients make them more personal so add personal touches and post them something they can keep as a reminder of you in-case something comes up and he is reminded of your work.
He gave me great contacts for websites and printing websites to get my work printed from for clients and my portfolio.
Overall it was a great meeting I took a lot of information from the meeting an I will be in contact with him for the year to disuse my portfolio.

Scary Stories
Continuing with my Theme of Scary Stories & Incorporating Nursery Rhymes into my theme I wanted to research in a lot more depth about the actual Nursery Rhymes themselves and what they mean?
This information is also a key link with my Journal also.
But to translate all the classical nursery rhymes into my set is a very large undertaking so I picked some of my favorite and most memorable rhymes that everyone can relate to.
Ring A Ring Of Roses
Rock A By Baby
Humpty Dumpy
Jack & Jill
Women Who Lives In A Shoe
These are some of the elements I will look at thought out this project.
What I plan to do next with these sketchbook pieces is to develop some of the colour's more on Photoshop, incorporate a more simple background layer, I am also going back into printing workshops so I can re-fresh my knowledge of the equipment an see how I can incorporate my narratives into a surface or wallpaper design.
This information is also a key link with my Journal also.
Ring-a-ring o' roses,
A pocket full of posies,
A-tishoo! A-tishoo!
We all fall down
A-tishoo! A-tishoo!
We all fall down
This Traditional folk and playground song was often based on the
Great Plague in England in 1665 and also associated with the Black Death,
creating less of a playful meaning. ‘Roses’ are the red rash on the skin like circle,
‘pockets full of posies’ were filled with smelling herbs, ‘A tishoo’ due to the
bad smells

Aude Van Rye
Aude Van Ryn is a very accomplished illustrator, she has worked with very well known publishers in the Varoom Publication was where I first became interested in her work. Sometimes in my work I over complicate the layers and add to many surfaces, what Rye does is adds simple texture that are effect but doesn't overpower the composition. This image for example she has a lot of vibrant shapes and tones to but bring the composition together she combines a simple wood texture to replicate a texture of a table, by doing this she brings all her elements together and by adding the texture it adds depth and interest to the piece. This is one of my aims this year is to combine details in the important elements of my narratives and add a simple colour pallet to bring them together Rye is a great influence of mine and I will be following her work.

Second Year Dooo's & Dont's
Over the Summer I was asked to talk to the new Seconds Years about what to expect...
Do's & Don't of the year.
And well in my experience of second year their are a lot of things I would do differently, this is also a great opportunity to become more confident in my public speaking abilities.
These are some of the questions I was asked and the answers I gave.
Thursday Induction 2.30 till 4.00
Presentation 12.00 till 12.30
1. What was the difference between 1st Year and Second Year?

Introduction to Third Year
I'M OFFICIALLY A THIRD YEAR....
TIME GOES FAST WHEN YOUR HAVING FUN
This year I think is about to be a great eyes opener for me, a lot of the work and brief that are being set are very individual and we are allowed to be left allow to produce our own work, which is very scary but exciting in the same way. The deadlines are closer and I think this year will test my organisation skills and my time management. Area's I will be focusing will be to have more knowledge of the equipment the Uni has to offer, become more confident on Photoshop, and take on board opportunities that are on offer. What I think needs improving is how I perfect my work, doesn't have to be a flat narrative, look at angels, view points and to also build my confidence with public speaking ( take any opportunity) and also start thinking more about presentation, plans, layout, frames, make your work sing when its on the wall.
But overall I cannot wait to get started and to see how my work develops and changes this year.

Final 8x8 Work
The Final of my 8x8 work was a bit of a challenge over the summer ( Pen-drives & Scales) Never again I have learnt my lesson.
Coming back to my course after the summer was free fleshing and to be honest I was glad to be back, 3 months is a long time to be off and you tend to get bored. So getting our new briefs and free back from Jo about my 8x8 work was a mad start to third year but I expected it.
The changes made to my final Narrative was that my girl and Wheel needed to be grounded to create more depth and so they didn't look like they were in space. I also had a problem with my page SIZE which was a very big challenge for me having to re-do the hole piece but lucky for me I am a very organised person an had all my elements asked and to the right size. So what I got from this Final 8x8 piece is ALWAYS CHECK BEFORE SAVING OR EVEN STARTING MY WORK ON A COMPUTER THAT MY PAGE SIZE IS 300 DIP.
