Charming animated sequel to Raymond Briggs's classic The Snowman. When a young boy and his mother move house, he builds a Snowman and a Snow dog who magically come to life.

If you didn't cry when you watched this video then their is something wrong... Its the most beautiful story and at first when I found out they are doing another Snow Man I thought that it would never top the first one. But the animates and illustrators who teamed together to do this are just amazing and Raymond Briggs should be very pleased, because  I know that the hole world is, and they have bought back my childhood.

N OMG the music just makes the hole piece come together so amazingly  I didn't think you could top the first one but they did.
The addition of the dog is so beautiful, and also being a student in Illustration myself it gives me hope that maybe one day I might be part of another Snow Man series and make other peoples childhood come alive :D
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year xx

    AGE UK Final Outcome

Talking to Hannah about my Age Uk work and looking how I could improve my work for publishing. The ideas that I generated was to incorporate the Virer Duck Bridge in Stockport in the background and have the train moving towards the station where Geffs farther and Geff are waiting for the train to Manchester. This will create more of an effective illustration and translate Geff's story more effectively.

These are some images from my sketchbook....

The train idea came from the story itself ( Geff going to watch Manchester City Football Club, and traveling by train.

The continuation into photoshop, combining all these elements together was very challenging. Designing the bridge to fit the template shape, and making the movement of the train to flow with the illustration was very time consuming. But I felt the final result was one of my most successful piece of illustration work, and feel very proud to be a part of AGE UK's Charity.

    Dialogue Ignites Change: Age UK

Self- Evaluation for Age Uk Project:
The aspect of the project I found difficult was the communication with other member of Age Uk and the pressure it brings knowing that I am using his or she's memories to create a piece of Illustration work. After my talk with a lovely gentleman called Geff, I found it really easy to pick out part of his story that I can make into a really effective Illustration that incorporates Stockport's Trains, but still holding onto the most effective part of the story which is Geff and his farther. The turning point to my work was the discussion between my class members and what I found out from Geff, also what ideas I wanted to generate from the talk.  This really helped me and my class member's gave me some great feedback that I can us to develop my working method. The feedback from my first draft image was very successful, we communicated more about how I can make the train look more like a train from World War 2 time, also how Geff and his father would look in the image and what materials would best be used to mimic their coats and pants in that period of time.
It is important to do this type of project becuase it adds more pressure on you because its not your story or a advertisement idea , it is someone else's memories of their family or an experience they had in their childhood. It also created elements of control and limits you in different ways and challenges your ideas.

‘ I think what separates us from the zine, although it’s got really high production value, because we want to make sure that the drawing are printed as well as possible’

    LE Gun Magazine
Though out the lecture on Varoom Text I felt most passionately about the text  and the argument?
These are a couple of points I took from the work, and some quotes made my the artist & designers that I found very influential.

•Researched based text ( Primary & Secondary sources)•Writing in the first person•Informative opinions-•In connection with Painting ,Feminism, &History by Griselda Pollock's us of language was argumentative and academic and was aimed at other academic’s.
•Audience in Varoom magazine is aimed at students, graphic designers, illustrators and people who are interested in what we do as a Visual Communicators.

PART OF THIS LONG BACKLASH AGAINST MAC US’
    (Atkinson Craig P32)

•Obsessed with the new power software•Improving work???•Loosing the passion of producing work with your hands•Not becoming part of the work you are producing because its on a computer screen.

‘ People are realizing that computers are just a tool ,the main part of my work flow is at the desk with my hands’
     ( Varoom P32).

    3D Sculpture

Incorporated into our brief we were asked to produce of 3D form made out of many media as part of our project.
I felt in my research of 3D artist and my influence from the Peepshow Collective Book, I felt to benefit the detail and shape of my character ( The Baldander) it would best be translated though hand crafted clay piece.
Being influenced by my fellow student who makes a lot of clay characters for her animation I was give great advice and given though-out. As I found it really exciting to develop different skills that have been forgot though-out my studies.
These are images taken of the process of developing my 3D Clay Character.
