AGE UK Final Outcome

Talking to Hannah about my Age Uk work and looking how I could improve my work for publishing. The ideas that I generated was to incorporate the Virer Duck Bridge in Stockport in the background and have the train moving towards the station where Geffs farther and Geff are waiting for the train to Manchester. This will create more of an effective illustration and translate Geff's story more effectively.

These are some images from my sketchbook....

The train idea came from the story itself ( Geff going to watch Manchester City Football Club, and traveling by train.

The continuation into photoshop, combining all these elements together was very challenging. Designing the bridge to fit the template shape, and making the movement of the train to flow with the illustration was very time consuming. But I felt the final result was one of my most successful piece of illustration work, and feel very proud to be a part of AGE UK's Charity.

Dialogue Ignites Change: Age UK

Self- Evaluation for Age Uk Project:
The aspect of the project I found difficult was the communication with other member of Age Uk and the pressure it brings knowing that I am using his or she's memories to create a piece of Illustration work. After my talk with a lovely gentleman called Geff, I found it really easy to pick out part of his story that I can make into a really effective Illustration that incorporates Stockport's Trains, but still holding onto the most effective part of the story which is Geff and his farther. The turning point to my work was the discussion between my class members and what I found out from Geff, also what ideas I wanted to generate from the talk.  This really helped me and my class member's gave me some great feedback that I can us to develop my working method. The feedback from my first draft image was very successful, we communicated more about how I can make the train look more like a train from World War 2 time, also how Geff and his father would look in the image and what materials would best be used to mimic their coats and pants in that period of time.
It is important to do this type of project becuase it adds more pressure on you because its not your story or a advertisement idea , it is someone else's memories of their family or an experience they had in their childhood. It also created elements of control and limits you in different ways and challenges your ideas.
